What's New at Fair Haven?

FAIR HAVEN ANNOUNCES CERTIFICATION APPROVAL FOR MEDICARE 

             Sidney. April 30, 2002 - Fair Haven, a 145 bed long term care facility was approved for certification of Medicare.  Fair Haven is the Shelby County Home, which is owned and operated by the Board of Shelby County Commissioners. 

             According to Anita Miller, Executive Director, “The decision to become a Medicare provider is a positive step toward future planning.  The Board of Commissioners is committed to securing and enhancing the service value of Fair Haven.  The Management Team and the staff are dedicated to the many residents and families touched by the care and the compassion at Fair Haven.”

            A positive influence was the Butler County Care Facility of Hamilton, Ohio.  The Management Team of Butler County Care Facility traveled to Sidney in the summer of 2001 to share their experience and answer question about their nursing home operation.  This session was very informative and provided additional insight to the policy and program development at Fair Haven.  Chuck Demidovich, LNHA, Administrator of Butler County Care Facility advised that the application process was lengthy and it would take many months for the actual results.   

Fair Haven is strengthening the foundation by teaming up with PRN, Concept Rehabilitation and Bunny’s Pharmacy to meet the needs of our residents and plan for the future service needs.  There are many advantages from collaboration and focusing on preventative care.  Matt Jones, President of PRN has a strong personal tie to County Homes, his father worked for the butler county facility for many years before retiring.  PRN will provide utilization management and Medicare reimbursement services for Fair Haven.  PRN has been in business since 1989.  Mr. Jones’ is currently providing services in 14 County facilities along with an approximate 200 skilled nursing facilities statewide.   

Concept Rehab is a therapy provider that focuses on long term care providing local professionals in physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy.  Concept Rehab is based out of Toledo, Ohio and has been serving Ohioans since 1984.   

Bunny’s Pharmacy has a long-term partnership with Fair Haven and has offered full support.  Bunny’s Pharmacy has always proven accountable to the needs of resident care and has been a driving force in future planning. 

As of April 1, 2002, “Your Shelby County Home” Fair Haven shall be known as a Skilled Nursing Home certified for Medicare and Medicaid.
